As the year 2022 draws to a close, many people are making their resolutions for a better, happier, more prosperous new year. Some common resolutions include:
- Quitting smoking.
- Exercising and/or losing weight.
- Clearing clutter from the home or office.
- Keeping in touch with loved ones more often.
- Crossing items off a bucket list.
At Coastal Chiropractic in Largo / Clearwater, Florida, we support your efforts and wish you well on achieving all your loftiest goals.
However, we believe there’s a resolution that’s quite often overlooked: making the new year pain-free. Because when your pain is diminished or eliminated, all your other resolutions can be far easier and more enjoyable to accomplish.
Many of our patients with chronic pain symptoms understand this all too well; pain interferes with daily activities, curtails favorite hobbies and causes less time to be spent with friends and family. These patients recognize the value of addressing their pain condition(s) in order to support everything else they want to do in life.
In a recent article, “7 Tips for Coping with Chronic Pain Through the Holidays”, we outlined ways to help ease pain systems by making small chances in the way we approach holiday activities.
Tips offered in that article include:
- Don’t procrastinate.
- Don’t overdo it.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
- Don’t make more work for yourself.
- Don’t forget to take care you YOU.
- Don’t let the season get you down.
- Don’t forget to follow your chiropractor’s recommendations.
(For more details, you can read the full article over here.)
Though the 7 tips were offered as a way to get through the holidays with less pain, the fact is, they may be applied throughout the year. Giving yourself a break on negotiable activities and timelines can really make a difference when it comes to reducing your pain symptoms.
But if you have a specific pain condition, these ideas are only part of the equation; in order to living your fullest active life, you MUST address the source of your pain and get treatment to alleviate your discomfort.
Once you’ve addressed and reduced your pain, everything else you want in life will be more realistically within your reach.
So, in the new year, make it your mission to kick pain to the curb and take back a more active, enjoyable overall lifestyle. It truly is possible – you need only take the first step to relieving your pain!
